Most gamers don’t realize that there are plenty of games that offer the same experiences as some of their favorite AAA franchises, but in bite sized chunks. Here are some great indie games for those of you who are fans of series like Gone Home, Loco Roco and Agents of Mayhem.
I worked with the guys at Goombastomp earlier last year to rank the MCU in it’s current state. So in the lead up to Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame, I thought I’d share the post here on my blog.
During my time studying Communications at AUT, I took a variety of courses. From acting to creative writing, and radio production to game design. However when all four years had past, I came out as an Advertising major.
I’m very proud of all the work I did within the realm of advertising. I wrote TV scripts for make up, re-designed beer bottles, planned public activation’s for grass mats, prototyped apps for youth mental health services and so on.
None of these were made public, and were used purely for academic purposes. However I’d like to share one i’m particularly proud of. A simple TradeMe advertisement for a cup and saucer. It was the first ad I ever wrote.
The grass is green, a potent green. Each blade a vibrant toothpick of colors. There are kids running through it. There’s a mother walking her dog on the other side of the street and a man fetching his mail. The world is full of substance, while I am hollow.

When I was in my second year of high school, I decided I’d take a break from trying to become an author. I decided I wanted a new avenue for telling stories. I realized that I wanted to make YouTube videos.

We like to have fun at Quiet Stories, and spread love to other creators that inspire us. So although no one asked for it, and we are totally unqualified to offer any awards, these are all the non-gaming media that we loved in 2018.
It is an undeniable fact that fighting games sell extremely well. Despite this, Street Fighter, Tekken and Mortal Kombat are all niche products. Yes the communities built around them support them in mass, but most gamers are wary of the genre. Many like myself are intimidated by the expansive roster of previous titles, the inherently odd Japanese style and the intricate web of combos to learn.

These are our game recommendations for the month of January 2019. It’s our last post of 2018, and our first look into 2019. So to change things up for the new year… we will now be adding VR games on a monthly basis!
This is the Quiet Stories’ Book Club, a monthly series where we challenge you to beat at least one of the games on our list. We’ll have expansive and time consuming games, for gamers on a limited budget. We’ll have smaller, more digestible titles, for gamers with little spare time. We’ll showcase a variety of genres and platforms. We’ll recommend the newest, most talked about games, and some older titles that you probably heard about but didn’t give the time of day to. The point is, we’ll have something to cater to everyone’s needs. Hopefully you’ll end up trying something new or discover a hidden gem.
Quiet Stories
